Substance Use Support Program
At CCHE, we have seen an increasing need for substance use services focused on harm reduction strategies. Our experience has shown that abstinence-based approaches often do not work for many individuals, particularly those facing complex structural and personal challenges.
We believe that to end HIV, we must also address the rising rates of opioid and other substance use. That's why we have developed a comprehensive substance use support program that prioritizes safety and support. Our program includes:
Safer Use Kits: Designed to reduce harm and promote safer practices.
Narcan: Available both on-site and for individuals to take home to prevent opioid overdoses.
Fentanyl Test Strips: Offering individuals a tool to test substances for the presence of fentanyl, reducing the risk of overdose.
Referrals for Substance Use Treatment (MAT and Behavioral): Providing warm hand offs to local substance use treatment providers.
By integrating harm reduction into our services, we aim to provide practical support that addresses both immediate needs and long-term health outcomes.
